This beautiful Hill violin bow with golden tip and gold mounted frog, had an unproperly made bow head repair. It had a veneer of plywood inserted in a too shallow slot cutted through the bow head. The right way of repairing is always discussible. That's why I would like to describe the process of my repair work: 1. Regluing the separated pieces 2. Removing the golden tip 3. Recutting a deeper slot and removeing the old fitted veneer 4. Fitting a new veneer of pernambuco 5. Fitting the tip back 6. Retouching and polishing |
